The Accademia, Venice.
The larger painting is 'Martirio di San Marco' ('The Martyrdom of St. Mark', patron saint of Venice) by Giovanni Bellini & Vittore Belliniano (1515-1526). Bellini was commissioned to paint the work in 1515, but died the following year, after which Belliniano was hired to finish it. It depicts the martyrdom of Saint Mark, who was dragged through the streets of Alexandria until dead. Curiously, the actual martyrdom is confined to the lower right portion of the panel, leaving the rest of the painting for the crowd scene and the backdrop.
The smaller painting is 'San Sebastiano tra i santi Liberale, Gregorio, Francesco e Rocco' (St. Sebastian between Saints Liberale, Gregory, Francis and Rocco') by Giovanni Mansueti (1500).
