"Denkpartner" (Thinking partner)
by Hans-Jörg Limbach
Hans-Jörg Limbach is represented in Stuttgart by only one sculpture, but it is one that is known far beyond the city limits. "Thinking Partner" has become one of Stuttgart's landmarks in the city center.
The bronze sculpture was created in 1980. It weighs approximately 800 kg and measures 2.70 m x 2.20 m x 1.25 m.
It was originally erected in the Kleiner Schlossplatz (Little Palace Square). Severely damaged by vandalism in April 1983, particularly at the head, the artist had it removed.
Thanks to a private donation, it was restored in 1984 and returned to Stuttgart. This time, it was placed in the Rotebühlplatz (Red Bühl Square).
A few years later, the sculpture was moved again to its current location in the Börsenplatz (Stock Exchange Square).
