The Deutsche Bahn (National Carrier) is building a new train station in Stuttgart, which is completely underground.
The initial idea dates back to 1970.
Construction began on February 2, 2010 – an opening date has not yet been set!
The design is by architect Christoph Ingenhoven – the structural engineering of the chalice-shaped columns is by Frey Otto (who also designed the roof structure of the Olympic Park in Munich!).
The project is very controversial – but I expect it will look quite impressive when it's completed!
